Resident Cite des Arts Paris 2014
open studio statement
As a painter whose daily ritual is immersed in the Australian landscape experience; of air, light, space and water; landscape is considered as a spatial experience of nature rather than a view. My residency has been focussing on an ‘immersive experience’ of site in the context of nature as abstraction, through painting and drawing.
I have been making interpretative works on paper both on site and in the studio as a direct response to the immersive experience of Claude Monet’s Nympheas cycle and installation in the Musee d’la Orangerie, his studies in Musee Marmottan and the garden site at Giverny.
