Punctuated Silence

This collection of work embraces my preoccupation living ‘at the edge of blue’ pulling from an eclectic blend of parallel atmospheric geographies, memories and experiences. The motif offers infinite variations; ocean, rocks, vegetation and ever changing skies which provide an armature for the subject of paint, all possessing their own rhythms.

In using the landscape as a platform towards abstraction a point of rupture develops between plein air description to that of inner mark; between what is observed as contour and what becomes a subjective translation of space, colour, mark and their configuration… the canvas becomes a filter through which light, space and mark, hover and suspend, reflecting nature’s intensity; pause and fractured moments targeting the felt vibrations of a journey. The landscape becomes about sensory experiences lived through the body rather than the singular framed view.
